Are these sentences correct:
a) "Hong Kong was below my expectations."
b) "Sydney met my expectations."

" I would not be surprised to hear a native speaker say that, but it sounds inelegant to me. You don't normally talk about above and below expectations. They are met or exceeded or not met, but I might say that Loch Ness did not come up to my expectations.
