in this sentence i could not understand what "he was desperate to see made as a young staff writer at Granada"means???can any one explain this in the light of grammer???

Coronation Street was the show he was desperate to see made (ie produced).

would u please explain "desperate to see made"??

eg Mary is very ill. Tom is desperate to see Mary cured. This means Tom wants Mary to be cured. Mary is the person Tom is desperate to see cured.

Think of it as a short way of saying Tom is desperate to see Mary to be cured (by someone).

Other examples -

- Tom was happy to see Mary cured. Now she is healthy again.

- When they eventually produced (ie made) Coronation Street, he was happy to see it (Coronation Street) produced.

It was a show he was happy to see produced.
