What is the difference if we are talking about, lets say a figurine.

edition This word is often used for books, newspapers, publications. For things, it suggests to me that the things are identical or very similar and were made around the same time. Also, it suggests that there are other editions that have greater differences, and were made at other times.

If an artist, for example, creates a small number of figurines from the same mold, he often calls them 'a limited edition'.

issue It doesn't sound natural to me to use this word for a figurine. I think of it as more for newspaper, stamps, things that are printed and and that are identical.

There is also version. This refers to things that vary, that have small differences.

Obviously, these words have meanings that can be very close.

Issues, volumes etc are more commonly used for journals specially, science/engineering journals
