I borrowed some motorcycles and rode around LA on my downtime.
--- I've found that "downtime" can mean to "calm down". So is it possible that he was riding a motorbike just to calm down or rather in his free time?

I'm not familiar with the usage you describe. Do you understand it to work like a verb, rather than a noun? - like "downsize"?
