Describe a personal challange

My essay:

When I was only 12 years old, I decided to set out for Isfahan- a city in central Iran- without my family. I grew up in Shiraz- a city in south-central Iran. It was a challenge because I always went to other cities and, even to places in my own city with parents or an adult person. In fact, the Managers of some schools decided to take their best students to Isfahan before the new academic year started. In fact, they wanted to give them rewards and praise them for their excellent performance in a scientific competition. My headmaster selected me and some other students. I was glad and had not gone there before. At first, my parents were not satisfied as they thought I was a shy and little girl who could not take care of herself. I did not give up and kept on talking to them. I was lucky because my uncle helped me by talking to them. Then, they allowed me to go Isfahan alone. I think it was the first amazing adventure in my own life. Isfahan was a wonderful and beautiful city, where you can enjoy a lot of historical places and friendly people. I met new people and visited great places. At that time, I wanted to share my feelings with others, especially my parents, who did not appreciate my adventure. This journey taught me a lot. After that trip, I was able to do most things by myself in my own way without needing help or advice from other people. Overall, it helped me to become more independent a person. I was proud of my parents, who let me do whatever I liked.
