Dates and Phone Numbers with Periods
Does anybody agree with the new look of written-out phone numbers? The dots look much cleaner than hyphens and parentheses, agreed?
1.800.LIVE.AID or 518.234.5678
The company's fax number is 555.345.6789.
My other question is - Can you also use the periods with a date format?
Example - He will resign on 7.9.10. (July 9, 2010)
Or should it be - He will resign on 07.14.10 with the zeros as placeholders?

2-- You should not use periods with dates either in any kind of public communication, though I admit that I have to use them in some spreadsheet applications to avoid having them all added up for me. I think some scientific papers favor them, too.
