cut down versus bring down, or knock down
Hello,
can I also say?:
1) Strong winds have cut trees down.
or is only number 2 possible?:
2) Strong winds have also brouht (knocked) trees down.
If I hear cut down, I imagine that a device is being used- a saw, which cannot be used in case of the wind, that´s why I wonder if also sentence number 1 is possible.

I would use knocked down or blown down. Cut does imply a tool was used to bring down the tree.
