Could you please proofread this (it's short)? (native speaker please)

The EU reckoned that there was no need to create a different cooperation mechanism, but it was indeed necessary to improve the existing one. The changes would include organisation of systematic meetings at least once a year and establishment of permanent contacts between experts from both sides."

Gave a ositive appreciation seems overly wordy and consequently unintelligible. The EU approved of would be sufficient, if that is what your phrase really means.

The is optional here-- the EU-Moldova relations-- and I tend to omit them when unnecessary. Otherwise, your articles are fine.
