Could someone please explain the usage of ingrained?
Hello
I was going through a business case-study, where I found the following text -
Almost all of the respondents, when asked about themselves, described themselves with respect to the roles they play in the household and their relationship with each member of the family. Their identities were ingrained with their family.
My question is -
Is the sentence-in-bold correct, especially the usage of ingrained?
If so, what is meant by the sentence?
If not, what should be the correct sentence?

It's fine. It simply means that their family is part of their identities and one cannot properly consider their identities on their own (outside the context of their family)
