Consist of
Well, first let me mention that the context is "generations produce their offspring". In such a context, I encountered with this saying "no later generation will ever consist of 100 individuals." I believe that this actually means "no later generation will be ever produced by 100 individuals." But why use "consist of?" How to understand it? Thanks.
