compound sentence

Hi
Please help me with this: Here is question from an exercise book.
Being tired he fell asleep.
This needs to be changed into a compound sentence.

The options given are:
a)He was tired and fell asleep.
b)He tires and fell asleep.
c)He was tired because he fell asleep. d
)None of these.

I chose d, but the key says it is a.

For a to be called a compound sentence it needs a subject for the second part of the sentence; that is He was tired and he fell asleep.

Am I correct?

Top answer

c)He was tired because he fell asleep. Am I correct? You are correct: d) is the correct answer.
