Comma usage - "who though"
A bit confused about where one of the commas goes in this sentence:
Particular credit in this regard should go to a Mr Barton, who though a teetotaller, proved himself very knowledgeable about whisky.
Should there be a comma after "who"? I'm inclined to leave it out, on the grounds that one doesn't use a comma before a parenthetical phrase when it is immediately preceded by a conjunction/joining element.
All help gratefully received.

Hi,
If you omit the comma after 'who', my advice is to omit the comma after 'teetotaller' as well.
However, as the parenthetical information gets longer, the need for commas increases.
