1. "hurt", "injured" (or more technical word, e.g. "sprained", "dislocated").

2. "enrolled" is the first word that occurred to me, but I wonder whether that is too "difficult" for this test. I am not sure what they have in mind. "joined in" may not have exactly the right meaning.

3. "learned".

There is no reason to capitalise "winter" or "knee". I am not convinced that "

sunny123 in fact the close test can be filled as following.
May I ask why you posted the question when you already knew the answer?

By the way -- I didn't actually know this -- it seems that the usual spelling is "cloze test".
sunny123Is it correct if we fill the third blank space with "understood" or "knew" too?
