hi all: I have sent this question:when I should use present perfect instead of present perfect progressive and vice versa? thanks for all who answer me.but I am confused with the two answer.please I want a comprehansive,conclusive  answer for this topic becuse I have had problem with it for along time. and which answer is more correct, with all respect for people who answered me.warm regards if you have enough time please, what are the differences among:among simple present,present perfect, and present perfect progressive.note :this question has been sent mistakly form account of my friend yazan.

if you have enough time please, what are the differences among:among simple present,present perfect, and present perfect progressive. Do you know when to use Simple Present? If you don't, you are not ready to study the Perfect tenses.

(1) According to Practice Exercises in Everyday English for Advanced

Foreign Students by Mr. Robert J. Dixson (1957), the present

perfect and the progressive form are "in many cases" interchangeable:

He has lived here for two years/ He has been living here for two

years.

I think that some language experts feel that the present perfect

often is used for a more permanent situation, and the progressive is

used for a more temporary situation. For example, if you come to the

United States only to study English, it might be better to say:

"I have been living in New York City for six months and plan to

return to my country soon." On the other hand, a long-time resident

of that city might say, "I know everything about New York City because

I have lived here all my life."

(2) Mr. Dixson says sometimes there is a difference:

I have read that book. = I have finished reading it; maybe I read it

one year ago.

I have been reading that book. = I am still reading it and have not

finished reading it yet.

I shall let a more qualified person than I answer your question about

the present tense.
