Yes, it's OK. However, it's not the best way to use a participle clause. It's better if the participle clause is associated with the subject of the sentence, not with the object, as you have here. You see, it is the bus (object) that takes you far from your home, not "I" (subject), i.e., you did not take yourself far from home. You may as well write this:

I rode the wrong bus, which took me far away from my home.

If you want an example of a participle clause that is associated with the subject, you can have something like this:

Being confused, I took the wrong bus.

Here "I was confused" and "I took the wrong bus". Both have to do with "I".
