Hi,The following is from Wikipedia:A beard is the collection of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair that grows on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chin, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_lip, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheek and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neck of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_being.I had learned that the hair grown on the upper lip is mustache.So why Wikipedia says a beard could grow on the upper lip?Thank you.

There are many different styles of beards.
Some do not include hair on the upper lip.
Your definition of a mustache is correct, but a beard is a collection of hair that grows on the , , and .

So when you say "He has a beard", you can't say "he has a mustache" at the same time.
Is that right?

Two different senses of "beard". Wikipedia is defining "beard" in the general sense of hair growing anywhere on the face and neck.

"beard" can be used with or without "mustache".

Jack has a beard can mean that Jack has facial hair only on the sides of his face and possibly chin or that Jack has facial hair on both the sides and possibly chin and on his upper lip.
Jack has a beard and a mustache means that Jack has facial hair on both his cheeks and possibly chin and on his upper lip. When you add "and a mustache" there is no doubt.

I recommend that you use Google Images to find photos. Check out "beard" and "mustache" there.
