appositive help and yes I did a search
We are working with use of appositives. Our teacher has asked that we combine 2 sentences and use an appositive. The two sentences are as follows:
America had complete records of their export cargo. These trade records accounted for each item and ship.
I am confused as to how to do this.
America had complete records of their export cargo, trade records, these accounted for each item and ship.
or
America had complete records of their export cargo, trade records, that accounted for each item and ship.
or am I completely wrong?

The second one is OK, but I would reverse the terms: America had trade records, complete records of their export cargo, that accounted for each item and ship .
