In the new film, Rick and Evelyn's son, Alex, is doing research in China. Alex is tricked into reawakening a cursed emperor, along with a 10,000-man-strong army of terracotta warriors.

I wonder why the above uses "reawakening" instead of "awakening." Doesn't "awakening" do the trick in the above? Thanks.

To me, the addition of "re-" makes it clear that his former life has been restarted (rather than him awakening to a new life).
