The passage ××× Malaysia is separated into two sections by the South China Sea;Peninsula Malaysia links with Thailand on the mainland of Asia, while East Malaysia comprises the states of Sabah and Sarawak. Q. Where does Peninsula Malaysia link with Thailand?
This is a test question in a class. I'd like to know whether the question is acceptable or not. I think the phrase 'on the mainland of Asia' is an adjective phrase, not an adverb phrase.
Top answer
I would say it's probably intended as adverbial, though it could be read either way. "Peninsula Malaysia" should presumably be "Peninsular Malaysia".
