Hello,1) I saw both prepositions on the Internet!  Which one is correct?2) Is my sentence is proper?X is defined as a tendency for/ of  people to meet expectation placed on them.I admire your response.

I think the different is that tendency for people...means that you try to influence in these people, and tendency of people...means that these people try to influence in others.

Sentence #1 is fine. Sentence #2 needs to have the second "is" deleted.

Sorry, I misread.

We'd say, "He has a tendency to eat too fast."

There is a tendency for people to eat too fast.

I notice the tendency of people to eat too fast.

These are all okay.
I'd use a different preposition in each case.

Technically you are using "to" as the preposition in all of those cases. "for people" and "of people" are just small prepositional phrases that fall in between the preposition connecting to the word tendency, which is "to" in all of your examples.
