A Simple paragraph opening sentence.
Hello guys I'm writing a short and a simple paragraph, but I'd like to know if this sentence is correct or not ?
" There are many ways our city is protecting people from bad weather "
The sentence above has been killing me for hours now; It's like I know it's correct, yet I feel something is missing.
I know how to say it in other ways but this way particularly is it correct ?? i'll complete it below.
There are many ways our city is protecting people from bad weather.
First, our city began adding air conditioners to almost every building ...
that's an example of what I'm writing .. really simple but please tell me if it's correct or not ?

protects is better here , but this verb should have a person/people as a subject .example city council

Our city is protecting people from bad weather in many ways.
