A question on article usage
Hi, everybody
I stumbled across this sentence that piqued my interest:
Got stuck in snow, sorry for delay on the delivery of the goods
What struck me as odd in that sentence is the absence of the definite article in between "for" and "delay". In my book, the whole sentence should read "Got stuck in snow, sorry for the delay on the delivery of the goods"
From a native speaker's perspective, which sentence is grammatical - mine or the original (without the article) ?

with the article. No question. but there's at least 2 other errors that indicate that the sentence might be itended as a sort of shorthand or telegraph-style message.
