A puzzling question

The bird flew away and made a very loud noise. (Rewrite using a present participle instead of and)

The bird flew away, making a very loud noise.

OR:

Flying away, the bird made a very loud noise.

Is the second answer correct? I would appreciate it if you gave me the answer to my question

The second answer is grammatically possible, but it seems a less balanced sentence than the first, and it also alters the word order more than is necessary, so on those grounds it seems an inferior answer to the question.
