I think the underlined phrase should originally be like the following.
:, being 17 years old and no and having no one to turn to except each other,
So I think "being" is omitted and "having" is missing; am I right?
And I'd like to know whether the underlined participle phrase is grammatical.

I don't see any omission except 'with' before 'no one'.

I think "and" should connects equal parts, but with "with", the latter will become an adverbial phrase whrereas the former is a noun phrase.
What do you think about this?

I see them both as adjectives modifying 'they', but I suppose the prepositional phrase could equally be considered adverbial.
