Pairs of real numbers, for example, (1.00394823, 190.493820) or (-15.3402, 6345.43564). Each of the two numbers is called a coordinate.

If you list all possible pairs of real numbers (impossible in practical terms, of course), you've got "two-dimensional real coordinate space". In geometric terms, it's the entire surface of a plane (no matter where you place the origin [0,0]).

By the way, a 3-tuple would be something like (63.4,-9312.45,-0.342), i.e., three coordinates. And so on. All possible 3-tuples describe a volume (geometrically).
