I faced a test and test answer was a little bit odd.
1)There's a girl in John's class that he wants to _____________, but he's too shy.
2)My parents are hoping I'll _____________ with their friends' daughter, but she's really not my type.
ANSWERS:ask out & hook up
the test answer : ask out for 1, and hook up for 2
I chose ask out for the first but when I see number two I prefer hook up for the first one and ask out for the second one. Because hook up is actually means sex! And parents usually wish to start a relation ship, so I thought ask out is more appropriate for the second one and unwillingly chose hook up for the first one. What do you think?
