India under Unlock 4: Metro rail services to resume, schools will remain closed

india under unlock 4

Changes for India under Unlock 4 status will include the resumption of Metro rail services and take-out options on bars for liquor and cigarette products.

India under Unlock 4 status

On September 1, a new COVID-119 guideline that will put India under Unlock 4 status will be implemented. Under the new guidelines, Metro rail services will be allowed to operate but not on certain restrictions and not in full capacity. Five months since the government placed the country on COVID-19 lockdown, finally, transportation through the railway system will be allowed to operate again.
In addition, bars and liquor stores will now be allowed to sell liquors and cigarettes but through take-out transactions only. Still, no drinking and smoking are allowed in public places. The liquor and tobacco ban was mandated last July 29, and by September 1, it will be lifted.
Strict sanitary restrictions will be upheld in railway services to ensure the safety of all commuters. Thermal scanning and wearing proper protective equipment will be mainly observed. As trains will not be functioning on full capacity, seats will be marked to observe social distancing among commuters.

Primary to Tertiary level still no classes

Despite India under Unlock 4 status, classes at all grade levels including college will still be prohibited to conduct physical classes. The reopening of school is not yet on the talks according to some high-ranking government officials. However, on higher education, IIT and IIM are planning to consolidate with government agencies to allow them to reopen schools gradually.
