It was manufactured and reproduced by an American biotechnology company, Gilead Sciences Inc. The company is a leading innovator in the field of biopharmaceutical, which deals with antiviral drugs for influenza, hepatitis B and C, and treatment for HIV.<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The patent application was submitted last January 21. Scientists from the Wuhan Institute of Virology have tested\u00a0<\/span><strong><em>Remdesivir<\/em><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><strong><em>Chloroquine<\/em><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in clinical trials in China and showed great promise in solving the coronavirus manifestation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Possible cure for the Novel Coronavirus<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>Chloroquine<\/em><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is an 80-year-old drug used to treat malaria infections. The drug showed impressive results in fighting the Novel Coronavirus strain during the laboratory testing phase.<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">China can manufacture\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Chloroquine,<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and the next thing they want is access and control over the other drug\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Remdesivir<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. This is something that the intellectual property authorities in China shall discuss in the upcoming days.<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to Merdad Parsey, Gilead Sciences&#8217; Chief medical officer:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Our company is shipping enough stocks to treat around 500 patients for the clinical trials. For now, Remdesivir is being used in two trials, patients with moderate and severe symptoms of the Coronavirus.<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If the application for a patent will be awarded to the Wuhan Institute, then Gilead is expected to lose its control over the drug&#8217;s production in China.<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But, the institute loudly expresses that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-02-05\/china-is-trying-to-patent-gilead-s-experimental-coronavirus-drug\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the patent application is out of national interest<\/a>.
