Schools in Dubai are now banning homework so that students can concentrate on other hobbies. Parents have supported the move and indicated that it is helping their kids to learn about their culture and native languages.<\/strong>
\nSome schools in Dubai<\/a> have banned homework, a move that has been praised by parents. The schools have indicated that this move is meant to allow students to \u201chave a life\u201d and also ease the demands placed on parents.<\/p>\n

Implementation of homework ban<\/h2>\n

Some of the schools implementing the no-homework rule<\/a> such as Arcadia Education<\/a>, Taaleem<\/a> and Ambassador Education<\/a> are already indicating that the move has been a success. They, however, expect this to be long term since the project has only been in effect for a few weeks.
\nThe schools indicated that they are rethinking the whole concept of giving homework to students to carry home. They noted that the homework ended up being a distraction to both the parents who help them in doing it and to kids who lack time to be themselves. They are now opting to use classwork hours for any unfinished school work.
\nKamal Kalwani, chief executive of Ambassador Education in Dubai, a private school operator, said,<\/p>\n

Children should have a life and across all grades should do homework at the school not at home. Parents also end up spending a fortune on tutoring their children after school while that extra help is provided to children at the school here.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This move has been well received by parents who are now appreciating how much time they get to stay with their kids. In the absence of home studies, these kids are now able to pursue music, gymnastics, go-carting, archery and coding. These are activities they were being limited to do when they had to do homework.
\nParents have also indicated that spending more time with their kids is helping them bond. Expatriate parents were also excited by this move, indicating that kids need to spend more time with them to learn about their culture and parents\u2019 native languages. They indicated that this required their kids to disengage from school work for a few hours, something they will now be able to do because they do not have any homework.
