{"id":26185,"date":"2019-11-13T08:00:57","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T08:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/?p=26185"},"modified":"2019-11-13T08:00:57","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T08:00:57","slug":"daca-9000-teachers-deportation-fear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.englishforward.com\/news\/daca-9000-teachers-deportation-fear\/","title":{"rendered":"DACA: 9000 teachers fear deportation if SCOTUS rules in favor of Trump&#039;s administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy was started by the Obama administration in 2012.<\/strong> However, one of the main agendas of Donald Trump&#8217;s administration has always been to take down the DACA.<strong> As the case is being heard at the Supreme Court, there&#8217;s a fear that more than 9000 teachers and staff may lose their jobs if the verdict is in favor of Trump&#8217;s administration.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe current case in the supreme court holds the future of almost 700,000 people that were illegally brought to the states when they were children.<br \/>\n<strong>At this moment, there are more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/education-news\/articles\/2019-11-12\/daca-recipient-teachers-outline-implications-of-scotus-decision\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">20,000 teachers and staff<\/a>, protected under DACA, who have applied for the teacher certification.<\/strong> Students across the whole country are worried about their teachers who fear the exodus of their teachers.<\/p>\n<h2>DACA policy holds the education system of the US together<\/h2>\n<p>The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) verdict is scheduled for next year. <strong>If the result forces to abolish DACA, these teachers and other immigrants would be deported.<\/strong> In a report filed by the National Education Association (NEA), if the DACA recipients are deported from the country, the education system of the whole country would come down.<br \/>\nThere are thousands of certified teachers and thousands of them are in the process. These teachers are not only a part of the country but are also very helpful to the multi-lingual students. <strong>With DACA no longer in existence, teachers and the other staff would be leaving their schools randomly and that would create a massive shortage.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The DACA policy was put to an end by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/3-years-of-trump-admin-and-universities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Trump&#8217;s administration<\/a> in 2017. <\/strong>However, many federal judges of the US didn&#8217;t support the move.<br \/>\n<strong>The president of the American Federation of Teachers, Randi Weingarten feels that for years politicians, irrespective of their political allegiance, understood how important immigrants are to the United States as a country and as an economy.<\/strong> The AFT represents thousands of teachers who are DACA recipients and are one of the many groups protesting outside the SCOTUS for a fair judgment.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nFeatured image from <a href=\"http:\/\/pixabay.com\/photos\/posters-people-rally-protest-2590766\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pixabay<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy was started by the Obama administration in 2012.
