Interestingly, most of them were India\u2019s regional neighbors.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, Bangladesh sent 4% of all international students, whereas Afghanistan and Nepal sent 10% and 27%, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other nations comprising of the top 10 included Iran, Sri Lanka, Yemen, US, Nigeria, Bhutan, and Sudan.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Nearly two-thirds of India\u2019s 0.13% of foreign students had been enrolled for undergraduate programs, whereas 16% of them at the postgraduate level.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>International students market need solutions<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Different stakeholders have expressed their concerns about the low numbers of international students in India. As a result, amicable solutions have been necessitated.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While rebranding is one strategy, other strategies include fee waivers. This approach has proven to be instrumental because the British Council and Universities UK International recently revealed a bilateral pilot program to enhance UK students\u2019 outward mobility towards India.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Substantial plans are being made to increase the number of foreign students in India. For example, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/indian-universities-mou-with-leeds-univ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Four Indian Universities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recently entered into agreements with the University of Leeds to collaborate on research, projects, graduate, and Ph.D. studies.<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>The statement of cooperation was signed when the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds Professor Hai-Sui Yu visited India.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/foreign-univ-open-branches-pros-cons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">foreign universities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are to be granted full autonomy as part of the changes being drafted in the education system by the Government of India.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An initiative known as Study in India was launched with the objective of rebranding India for at least one million international students.
