{"id":21472,"date":"2019-09-13T10:42:39","date_gmt":"2019-09-13T10:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/?p=21472"},"modified":"2019-09-13T10:42:39","modified_gmt":"2019-09-13T10:42:39","slug":"california-students-struggle-expenses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.englishforward.com\/news\/california-students-struggle-expenses\/","title":{"rendered":"California students struggle with jobs and expenses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>According to a recent <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csac.ca.gov\/sites\/main\/files\/file-attachments\/2018-19_student_expenses_and_resources_survey_web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>survey<\/b><\/a><b>, California students experience the most considerable difficulty in juggling several part-time jobs in combination with their university courses, in order to cover all their living expenses.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data from the survey revealed that more than forty percent (40%) of students in both rural and central parts of California report that they cannot benefit from a secure housing situation. This is extremely worrying as the pressure of not having the security that you will be able to stay in your home is immense.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<b>In Los Angeles, one of the most popular student locations in California, about thirty percent (30%) of students reported that they are having issues with securing a permanent housing arrangement, and about thirty-three percent (33%) declared that they struggle to have constant access to food.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California students and college costs\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While some universities in the United States have started offering <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/160-million-endowment-expands-free-tuition-program-at-university-of-texas-austin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">free higher education<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to students who don\u2019t have the means to cover their tuition. However, a lot of students get into their university years without anticipating the living costs, which are not included in tuition fees.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<b>California students have it even tougher as this is one of the notoriously expensive areas of the United States.\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Considering this, their task becomes unimaginably hard, as their focus and time need to be split, and most importantly balanced, between part-time work, and schoolwork.
