Moreover, their societal engagement is elevated by this course.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Hong Kong\u2019s struggles<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Hong Kong has been experiencing considerable protests and since June. For instance, some of the students have started <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/09\/02\/world\/asia\/hong-kong-student-strike-boycott.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>attending school wearing gas masks<\/b><\/a><b>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Hong Kong students plan class boycotts<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Students in Hong Kong from high schools and universities have made considerable plans of starting class boycotts so that they can pressurize the government to heed to the demands aired by protesters, such as withdrawal of the contentious bill and the inclusion of universal suffrage.\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nevertheless, the relevant authorities are continuously depoliticizing these learning institutions.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mainland China is against Hong Kong\u2019s liberal studies, and it seeks to have it abolished. If this happens, this course will be ramped up just like patriotic education was done on the mainland.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Liberal studies is intended at boosting the learners critical thinking capabilities and knowledgebase about subjects, such as climate change and Hong Kong\u2019s identity.
