{"id":18727,"date":"2019-07-24T10:25:36","date_gmt":"2019-07-24T10:25:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/?p=18727"},"modified":"2019-07-24T10:25:36","modified_gmt":"2019-07-24T10:25:36","slug":"career-development-center-usaid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.englishforward.com\/news\/career-development-center-usaid\/","title":{"rendered":"Career development center to launch at Ain Shams University thanks to the help of USAID"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On 22 July, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in collaboration with the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asu.edu.eg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ain Shams University<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Egypt,<\/span><b> launched a new center for career development.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> This is the third joint project between the institutions in terms of career development.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The idea behind these career centers is to <\/span><b>provide a connection between higher education students and potential employers in their area of expertise.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The new center will be primarily dedicated to the Faculty of Commerce at the university.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to USAID representatives, there is a large-scale plan in motion to open more than twenty new career centers all across Egypt. <\/span><b>The whole initiative is worth more than twenty million dollars (USD20.8m)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and has been scaling up successfully for the past several years. <\/span><b>The opening of new centers at campuses all over Egypt is part of the continuous effort of USAID <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to invest in the development of education in the country. Ever since 1978, USAID has spent more than thirty billion dollars (USD30bn) in initiatives in Egypt.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Career centers are important<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b>There is an increasing gap between the skills acquired in universities and the skills employers are looking for.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Many countries have tried to focus more on developing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/agro-vocational-education-nigeria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">vocational education<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, while other countries are looking for other solutions.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Career centers have the potential to bridge this gap,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as students and potential employers get the chance to communicate directly.
