David Goldfein, mentioned this at the summit:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAs I visit installations, the number one quality of life issue for Airmen with children is the quality of the schools.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They\u2019ll say \u2018hey, Chief, you can deploy me, you can send me to tough locations, you can make me live in small rural communities\u2026we\u2019re in! B<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ut once you start affecting the quality of our children\u2019s education, that\u2019s when we\u2019re going to make difficult decisions.&#8217;\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the works of army service, members aim to have the driving force to transition by adding students into their routine. However, it requires to deal with challenges that it may entail as Gen. Goldfein continued:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAs we make future basing decisions\u2026we\u2019re going to start at some of those quality of life issues because of retention.\u00a0 Airmen are not going to stay in the United States Air Force I\u2019m moving them between school systems that are all over the map.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gen. Goldfein further assures that <\/span><b>\u201call of the investment that you make in a quality school systems\u2026is well made.\u201d<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Air University (AU) chair of the K-12 education team, Dr. Brian Selmeski, supported this as the AU talked about the <\/span><b>\u2018The Increasing Importance of School Quality in Military Basing\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> during the ADC summit.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPublic schools belong to their communities, and only they can <strong>ensure long-term solutions<\/strong> that will benefit all children.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We aim to be a catalyst and facilitator for that process. Simultaneously, we are pursuing near-term efforts to provide more military-affiliated families with <strong>more high-quality public educational options<\/strong> for their children.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It was emphasized that the goal wasn\u2019t only for the military but also to make it<\/span><b> \u201can attractive option for military families\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as AU chief officer, Col. Jeffrey Donnithorne, have said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAir University\u2019s particular challenge comes from our need to recruit a high-quality faculty, both military and civilian, as well as military students.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We want to make coming to Montgomery an attractive option for military families.
