{"id":18493,"date":"2019-07-16T15:35:41","date_gmt":"2019-07-16T15:35:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/?p=18493"},"modified":"2019-07-16T15:35:41","modified_gmt":"2019-07-16T15:35:41","slug":"teacher-appreciation-is-falling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.englishforward.com\/news\/teacher-appreciation-is-falling\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher appreciation has dropped significantly in the last five years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to a recent YouGov poll, about <strong>fifty-three percent (53%) of teachers would not recommend their profession to the younger generation.<\/strong> In addition, sixty-three percent (63%) of the public believes that teachers are undervalued and seventy-eight percent (78%) believe that they deserve more appreciation and respect for their work.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chartered College has made a statement, pointing out that <strong>there has been a considerate shortage of people entering the teaching profession.\u00a0<\/strong> Teacher-student <a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/low-student-teacher-ratio-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ratios<\/a> have started becoming worse across the world, as well, with recent research quoting India as the worst place to be a teacher.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another disturbing fact is that <strong>one in three teachers leave their jobs within five years<\/strong>, even though sixty-two percent of people acknowledge that teaching should be a lifetime job.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teacher appreciation and mental health<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Education Support Partnership (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.educationsupportpartnership.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ESP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) charity is addressing the <strong>mental health problem which comes along with low levels of job satisfaction.<\/strong> ESP notes that depreciated <strong>teachers are suffering from behavioral and psychological symptoms because of their work<\/strong>, while some sixty percent (60%) of UK employees in various professions do not experience this. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>The mental state of trainee teachers is even worse, <\/strong>and that is why the ESP has opened a helpline for aspiring teachers who struggle with their first steps in this professional field.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>The main goal of the charity is to make teaching an attractive profession<\/strong> and a longterm career once again.
