William Latson, the Florida high school principal, was reported to be removed from his seat because of telling that “not everyone believes the Holocaust happened” via email exchanges with a mother a year ago.<\/strong><\/em>
\nThe report was confirmed on Monday by the Palm Beach County school district and soon take off William Latson from his position.<\/span>
\nIn a statement, the district further emphasized:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to being offensive, the principal\u2019s statement is not supported by either the School District Administration or the School Board.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The denial of having the Holocaust in the school curriculum was disturbed and that it should be “based on historical fact,” the statement added.\u00a0<\/span>
\nThe Palm Beach Post released the email exchanges <\/a>with a parent that dates back a year ago after gaining the approval of open records request.\u00a0<\/strong>
\nAs the paper went on, Latson penned:<\/span><\/p>\n

“Not everyone believes the Holocaust happened. And you have your thoughts, but we are a public school and not all of our parents have the same beliefs.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The school district didn’t see the issue not only as “offensive.” It was an act that the district believes that caused discord which they put it as “a major distraction for the school community.”<\/strong><\/span>
\nA formal apology was released last week by Latson to the Palm Beach Post saying:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI regret that the verbiage that I used when responding to an email message from a parent, one year ago, did not accurately reflect my professional and personal commitment to educating all students about the atrocities of the Holocaust.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Latson currently has no specification for his job reassignment while the school district looks for his replacement.<\/strong>
