They are now being called upon by Minister Nadhim Zahawi to offer their resources to help children in care or at risk.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/children-in-care-to-be-helped-into-independent-schools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minister Zahawi<\/a> is hopeful that this ambitious program will raise the inclinations of the vulnerable kids to do better. <strong>Five hundred thousand pounds invested in this program<\/strong> should increase access to private schools.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A significant portion of Britain\u2019s private schools is registered as charities, which allows them to get various monetary benefits from the government. The time has now come for them to actually do charitable actions that will help people who are not wealthy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Success stories from Norfolk\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This project is<strong> based on a ten-year study<\/strong> conducted in partnership with Norfolk County Council.\u00a0 In this study, fifty-two children who were either \u201cat risk or in care\u201d were sent to private boarding schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sixty-three percent came off the risk category<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Seventy-one percent were shown to be of reduced risk<\/li>\n<li>Compared to the other children at care, these kids achieved \u201cgrade A* to C for Maths and English GCSE.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the past, similar initiatives have failed. One of the key reasons was the <strong>unwillingness of local authorities to recommend children<\/strong> who are suited for the program.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This failure is addressed by the <strong>ten teams being set up by the government who will assist local authorities<\/strong> in selecting students in care who will benefit from the initiative.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Britain\u2019s private schools have come under criticism for the exclusivity they maintain. The children from these schools get tutored by the best and have access to a wide variety of extracurricular activities. This grooming gives them an edge while applying for higher studies.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Compared to other developed nations, <strong>Britain\u2019s private schools are significantly more expensive than their counterparts<\/strong> in the public domain.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Britain\u2019s private schools have always been the exclusive chattels of the rich and privileged.
