{"id":18105,"date":"2019-07-02T11:45:30","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T11:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.englishforums.com\/news\/?p=18105"},"modified":"2019-07-02T11:45:30","modified_gmt":"2019-07-02T11:45:30","slug":"unesco-pays-special-attention-to-inequality-in-education-at-european-development-days-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.englishforward.com\/news\/unesco-pays-special-attention-to-inequality-in-education-at-european-development-days-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO pays special attention to inequality in education at European Development Days 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">UNESCO representatives have <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unesco.org\/new\/en\/brussels\/about-this-office\/single-view\/news\/unesco_discusses_inequalities_in_education_during_the_europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">joined<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the 2019 edition of the European Development Days <\/span><b>to shed light on the importance of education, especially for migrants and refugees.<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Several high standing officials like Abdul Karim Albrem, Youth Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Haldis Holst, Deputy General Secretary of Education International joined <\/span><b>a discussion panel on how migration and displacement are tightly related to education.<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The discussion panel was chaired by Manos Antoninis, Director of the UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM), which presents<\/span><b> a comprehensible breakdown of the current status of integration of refugees and migrants into local education.<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Education is a critical factor which aids the integration of migrants into new societies and also mitigates the adverse effects of displacement. Unfortunately, due to the poor living standard, <\/span><b>refugee families and especially children often face difficulties with following a strict education plan, going to school regularly and completing the assigned homework.<\/b><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other events\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">UNESCO organized several more events, one of which was a Lab Debate initiated by the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO). A discussion <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eudevdays.eu\/community\/sessions\/1628\/efficiently-tackling-educational-inequalities-looking-at-data-differently\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">titled<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cEfficiently tackling educational inequalities: Looking at data differently\u201d <\/span><b>scholars and statisticians reviewed the necessity for skillful distribution of educational aid programs among different regions of the world.<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another session, which took place during the Lab Debate, placed<\/span><b> a focus on methods and practices, which will improve equality and inclusiveness in the classroom.<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All these UNESCO seminars and discussions are part of the increased effort of the organization to aid and develop education, with migration and displacement in mind.
